Sometimes adults just like little kids, get bored with their food. Food is all about colours, inspirations and festivities. It is just me playing with my food~

Cooking Lab - 5 Grains Origiri Rice Ball
Rice balls are super easy to make and fun to eat.
Making my own version.

Cooking Lab - Korean-Inspired Jajangmyun Noodles (改良韓國炸醬麵版)
My good friend who just got back from Korea, raved on and on about a popular Korean national dish - Jajangmyun.
The taste? It is delicious and satisfying.
It is not too authentic nor traditional - heck! I like to create and come up with something new, fast not fussy and delicious at the same time.
I used Korean quick noodles which are wider and has a lot more elasticity compared with others. These wriggly noodles can be cooked fairly quickly and hold the sauce fairly well.
Ingredients:
- 4 serving of the Korean's quick cook noodle packs.
- 4 tablespoon of Ja Jang sauce.
- 1 capsicum
- 100g snow pea sprouts
- 200g Korean fish sticks
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
11. Garnish with sliced red capsicum and fish sticks.
It is essentially noodles tossed in black bean sauce and it is inexpensive to make. Anyway, I got inspired so proceeded to concot this version.
The taste? It is delicious and satisfying.

1. Add water to a pan and bring to a boil.
2. Blanch the snow pea sprouts for 30 seconds until vibrant green.
3. Remove and set aside.
4. In the same pot of boiling water, cook the Korean quick noodles for 3 minutes.
5. The noodles should have a chewy bouncy texture and not al dente.
6. Drain and set aside to cool.
7. Add cooking oil to a fry pan and shallowly pan fried the red capsciums and the fish sticks.
8. Add the Ja Jang sauce to the noodles.
9. Mix well to combine.
10. Season with soy sauce.
11. Garnish with sliced red capsicum and fish sticks.
Now doesn't this look too pretty for words?
Like something out of an Oriental Garden :)

This is for you my dear friend.
You may wish you can immigrate to Korea and have all Jajangmyun and the beautiful 'Korean-Pop' girlfriends. But you are here now and this is pretty good, too.

Cooking Lab - Pan Fried Spinach and Pork Dumplings
The weather is getting cold and its time to have some comfort food.
After you checked out this recipe, you will want home-made gyoza/dumplings all the time.
Not only they are simple to make, you can be super generous with the fillings.
Plus you know exactly what goes in, and none of the addictive and preservatives.
(c) GMV - Got My Vote!
These savory pan fried Japanese style yaki-gyoza/ dumpling appetizers are wrapped with pork and spinach served with a vinegary dipping sauce.
It's great fun creating these juicy dainty Asian treats; they are so delicious too. Make more than you intended, because they will won't last.
Ingredients
- 500g pork mince
- 1 bunch of spinach
- 1 packet of dumpling pastry
- 50ml light soy sauce
- 40ml oyster sauce
- 10ml cooking wine
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp chicken powder
- 5ml seasme oil
- Salt & pepper
- 30ml dumpling sauce
- 50ml cooking oil
- 50ml water
Now the fun part:
7. Arrange your gyoza/dumpling work station as shown.
8. Unwrap the pastry from the packet and leave it in room temperature for 5 minutes.
9. You will need a dumpling press maker tool.
16. Or you can just seal the edges with your hands, too.
Using this dumpling maker helps to create consistent beautiful half moons goyza with pleated edges.
18. Arrange Gyoza in an oiled fry pan so they do not overlap each other.
19. Shallow pan fry on high heat.
20. Remove from heat.

Cooking Lab - White Zucchini Chips
Delicious but nutritious fried zucchini sticks. They are tender, flavourful and taste just like 'junk food' fries. Definitely a fun way to eat your vegetables. My new replacement for french fries.
An alternative way to cook zucchini.
Now I can make a big batch and munch on them while watching a movie.
A quick n easy snack.
